昨天在上訴庭進行的裁決檢討聆訊上，有指詐騙犯Charles Schmitt已與香港一所大學達成協議，將於刑滿獲釋後受聘為就業發展經理。之後有資料披露該大學為浸會大學。
Charles Schmitt曾擔任紐約股票交易所高級管理人員。他因策劃詐騙3.63億港元對沖基金而被判刑，昨天再被上訴法庭加刑兩年零兩個月，提早獲釋的希望落空。
根據最新裁決，Schmitt最早可能於2011年初獲釋。
法官司徒冕裁定，Schmitt原獲判的四年半刑期‘明顯不足’，按其罪行最多可判十二年，但鑒於被告在2006年認罪，並協助清算人追索投資者的資金，刑期應減為六年零八個月。
生於美國、今年63歲的Schmitt戴著眼鏡，身穿藍色襯衫，安靜地坐在被告席上，抱著雙臂，目光下視。當被庭警從法庭帶走時，他還向一位支持者揮手。
